Community Recycle is a scheme established by companies operating within the external school environment sector. The initiative collects, coordinates and donates overstocked, unsellable items, returned goods and second-hand equipment to schools in our communities across the UK. It’s a great scheme that ensures goods, that would otherwise be left in storage or even go to landfill, are put to good use in the community, saving schools money and brightening up school grounds across the UK.
The types of material currently include:
Polycarbonate sheets
Shade sails
Post pads
Outdoor furniture items

“We are delighted with the sail! It is great quality and just the size we needed. It provides us with much needed shelter during a downpour in our off-site Forest School. Many thanks from the pupils and staff of Stanley School.”
Rebecca Eaton
Class Teacher, Stanley School
“Langdon Primary School gratefully received a shade sail from the Community Recycle Scheme during the summer term. For a long time, we have thought that we needed more permanent shade in our decked play area for our youngest children. The area is overlooked by trees which provide lovely, dappled shade, but as the sun moves throughout the day this has not been enough. The sail shade provides just what we need. Being easy to move, we can change its position throughout the day or over the course of the year. During the summer term, it was even hoisted on its side as the sail to our pirate ship role play area! We’re really grateful for the generous gesture which has made a difference to our play facilities and ultimately to the children’s learning.”
Lynn Paylor Sutton
Headteacher, Langdon Primary School
“We would like to say a huge thank you for the posts we received from you. Finally we have been able to create our own mini fences for our toddlers and playgroup to use!”
Rebecca Turner
Headteacher, Archibald First School
“We would like to thank the scheme for the generous donation to Monksdown Primary School. We will put the shade sail to good use to support the children in their outdoor learning. The lovely new canopy will be very welcome in the beautiful weather that I’m sure will reappear again soon!”

“Thank you so much for your kindness towards Ashmole Primary School Parents & Staff Association by donating the shade sail. The last few months have been a particular challenge for so many and being able to get things to be of use to the children is wonderful. Many, many thanks for your help.”
PSA, Ashmole Primary School
“Thank you for your support in creating our outdoor EYFS area!”
We were delighted to receive a shade sail in the summer, which has proved to be an invaluable addition to our Key Stage 1 Outdoor Learning Environment. It provides much-needed cover from the heat and sun in the summer, and from rain and leaves in the autumn. As well as providing these very useful functions the children have used it as the roof to a den, a sailing ship and a spaceship – it really brings outdoor activities to life!

School Administrator, Market Deeping Community Primary School
