Ashcott Playing Fields in North Somerset Add Fabric Umbrella Canopy

Ashcott Playing Fields has plenty of great play equipment and changing facilities for sports teams. However, the fields were lacking an area of shade and shelter which would make the services more accessible all-year-round.

A&S Landscape designed, manufactured and installed a fabric umbrella canopy. Measuring 4m X 4m, there is plenty of space for several people to gather underneath at once. The Slate Grey steelwork works perfectly with the Spruce fabric, creating a stylish and practical shade solution. Made with a waterproof PVC material, the Maxima Umbrella can be used throughout the year.

Parents and carers can now watch their children use the playground under the cover of the umbrella. And when there is a game being played at the field, the spectators can stand under the canopy too. It’s also a great place to enjoy a picnic or a cool drink during the summer months.

Why playground safety is so important and the potential dangers that teachers and schools should look out for

Playgrounds can become dangerous for a wide range of varying reasons. Unsafe behaviour is clearly something that teachers and students alike should be on the lookout for. But alongside protecting children from the weather, uneven and improper surfaces can also cause trips – and unsafe or unsound outdoor equipment can instantly turn the fun sour.

It’s projected that in the UK alone, around 40,000 children suffer from playground accidents. A huge amount of these even end up in the hospital or A&E, making it vital that schools do everything they can to impose proper playground safety. UK schools across the country struggle with making their playgrounds as safe as possible – fortunately, a lot of these accidents can be avoided with vigilant supervision.

By following safety suggestions and examining surfaces and equipment, you can do a lot to prevent future accidents that your pupils may have – making it an environment that can be safe and fun to play around in with reduced hazards.

The job involved the supply and installation of one Motiva™ monopitch straight roof canopy and included for our Alu-Tuff™ aluminium box profile guttering and downpipes in matching Dura-coat™ colour finish.

Farmborough C Of E VC Primary School Create Shade with Polycarbonate Canopies

Working with the contractor A&S made two straight polycarbonate roof canopies in Farmborough C Of E Vc Primary School Farmborough, Bath, Somerset. The contract included the supply and installation of one Motiva™ monopitch straight roof canopy measuring 8150mm X 2500/3400mm and 4500mm X 1900mm. One Motiva™ monopitch straight roof canopy measuring 3300mm X 2500mm, both included for our Alu-Tuff™ aluminium box profile guttering and downpipes which were coated in a matching Dura-coat™ colour finish.
