Barkers Lane County Primary School in Wrexham needed three outdoor shelters that could have multiple purposes. The ideal model would be able to be used as everything from a play space to a dining shelter to an outdoor classroom shelter. They also wanted one canopy to be designed to fit around the building in an L shape, and all three had to keep out the rain and wind with strong but attractive designs. The team contacted us and we were pleased to take on this project.
Following detailed discussions about the different options, it was decided that our Motiva Linear™ was the right fit for this client. It combines practicality with aesthetics, as its asymmetric straight roof holds up well in all sorts of bad weather and adds a touch of class to any outdoor space. We installed a trio of this model at Barkers Lane County Primary School, boasting Opal polycarbonate roofs and Dusty Grey steelwork which looked clean and appealing and could offer many exciting uses for the areas. What’s more, we used our experience as canopy and shelter specialists to design one of the shelters in an L shape that worked perfectly with the building.
The outdoor canopies were well-received at Barkers Lane County Primary School. They now have three new facilities that have increased their available outdoor space and provide opportunities for pupils to enjoy playing, learning or even dining in the fresh air – no matter the season. The L-shaped structure looks particularly impressive on-site and the staff were thrilled with how we adapted our product to fit their requirements. Plus, the matching colours of the shelters have created a stronger feeling of architectural unity and modernity. We always strive to solve our clients’ problems to the best of our ability and achieving success here was truly rewarding.
Barkers Lane County Primary School describes itself on its website as a ‘happy, safe and caring community where children receive high standards of education and achieve their full potential’. They have facilities including a multi use games area, a sensory garden, relaxation areas and a Forest School/Conservation Area. The staff were very accommodating, and we were glad to see how they and their pupils would benefit from our shelters.
This customer is based in Wrexham, the largest town in North Wales. It features the beautiful Edwardian park, Bellevue Park – which often holds concerts in the summer and has a bowling green and basketball courts too. You can also enjoy sights like the Gothic 16th century tower of St Giles’ Church in Wrexham, plus outdoor activities like pony trekking in the nearby Ceiriog valley. Whether you’re a visitor or a long-term resident, Wrexham has plenty to offer people of all ages.
Children love to be outside, whether it’s racing around the playground, having a snack in the sun or enjoying some hands-on learning. However, the British weather can put a stopper on teachers’ outdoor plans for their classes. This is where canopies come in, because they keep these plans in motion, even if it’s rainy or windy.
Primary schools can often benefit from having more usable space, and shelters can transform into dining areas, playground canopies and outdoor classrooms – with separate, dedicated products or through one, multi-purpose product. They allow institutions to expand their existing facilities and come in a range of colours that can have desired effects, including cooler blues to help relaxation and brighter reds to boost creativity.
We are specialists in the education sector and have worked with a huge list of institutions to design, manufacture and install shelters that truly benefit them and their pupils, considering everything from improving the learning experience to heightening architecture.
