Bowbrook Primary School in Shrewsbury Adds a Range of Canopies

What was the project brief?

Bowbrook Primary School in Shrewsbury, Shropshire were looking to enhance their outdoor area and provide a myriad of shelter options to ensure students can stay dry during their breaktimes despite the unpredictable British weather! The staff wanted the canopies to stay in keeping with the modern architecture at the newly built school and decided that the simple and clean look of our sturdy steel framework would be best to achieve this. As this school is situated close to our A&S Landscape Headquarters, our team were particularly keen to get involved!

What was our school canopy solution?

Our specialist team worked with the school to find the best solution from our vast product range, they were particularly impressed by our Motiva Linear™ and Maxima Sail™ designs and decided to integrate both products across the school for optimal coverage. We installed three Motiva Linear™ canopies of various dimensions around the school to provide shelter over doorways and frequently used walkways; this structure is infamous for its robust design that can be adjusted to fit any length. The Black Grey Duracoat™ combined with an Opal polycarbonate roof provides a contemporary look that doesn’t compromise on longevity. Furthermore, the school saw the addition of our Maxima Sail™ as a fail-proof option – the eye-catching design provides shelter from all weather, and holds some of the longest guarantees in the market. For this design, the Black Grey Duracoat™ was chosen once again for a cohesive look, and a Hemp coloured PVC roof was chosen for high-strength waterproofing.

What was the result of their new school shelters?

This new school in Shrewsbury loves its four new canopies. The canopies are an eye-catching feature that build upon the school’s modern design and facilities, both the staff and pupils have enjoyed making use of the protected areas for rainy days, and the children make frequent use of the Maxima Sail™ to sit under and socialise with their friends.

About the client

Bowbrook School are a newly built Nursery and Primary School in Shrewsbury, Shropshire. They are an inclusive school that aims to encourage all children to reach their full potential; this includes those with special educational needs and disabilities – hence their strong focus and development in their SEND division, which supports these students with their education, independent living, social life, and maintain good health. Sam Aiston has been appointed the first head teacher of the school, and upon accepting the role stated, “I feel honoured and excited to be creating a school for the future, a flagship school for Shrewsbury, which is successful and popular with everybody.”
