Church of the Ascension C of E Primary School in Wall Heath wanted to find a canopy that could be placed next to their building and provide their pupils with a large, covered outdoor space in which to enjoy break times. The staff thought that it should be colourful, uplifting and durable, as well as safe for the energetic children when they were playing outside. They got in touch with A&S Landscape and quickly began discussing the best way to move forward with this project.
Several models suited their requirements, but Church of the Ascension C of E Primary School eventually decided that they liked the Motiva Linear™ the best. Built to spacious custom specifications of 17385mm X 5000mm, the shelter fit nicely along the length of the school building to offer immediate protection for those stepping outdoors. The Motiva Linear™ is perfectly suited to this placement, thanks to its monopitch asymmetric roof. Plus, the Traffic Blue steelwork and multicoloured polycarbonate that the school team picked out really made a statement and brought the space to life – the roof featured Lagoon Blue, Mandarin, Violet, Daffodil and Poppy Red! Along with post protectors, this model created a canopy cover that could guarantee safe, dry break times for years to come.
The children enjoy getting more fresh air when they’re not in class – and even when they are, as the multicoloured outdoor canopy also provides an excellent place for alternative learning! The bright design adds something special to the look of the primary school and the reliable structure offers a new space that can be used in all weathers. A&S Landscape was pleased that Church of the Ascension C of E Primary School has discovered so many uses for their shelter and that it will bring more colour to the daily lives of their staff and pupils.
“I cannot speak highly enough of A&S Landscape. Everything has been conducted to the highest level of professionalism. The team that did the initial installation worked through relentless driving rain to ensure that the canopy was fitted on schedule. Communication between head office and ourselves was always effective and prompt.”
Steve Hudson, Headteacher at Church of the Ascension C of E Primary School
Church of the Ascension C of E Primary School was founded in the nineteenth century and has been an essential part of the Wall Heath community ever since. They are a nurturing institution with strong links to the local church and a focus on traditional values. They say on their website that they aim to be ‘a place where everyone works together in an atmosphere which celebrates mutual respect and inclusiveness’. Ofsted judged the school to be ‘Good’ in 2016 and praised them for their ‘Leaders’ and teachers’ knowledge of, and care for, pupils’. A&S Landscape found the staff to be pleasant and easy to work with, which made the project even more enjoyable to complete.
This institution is located in the village of Wall Heath in the West Midlands. The nearby town of Dudley is bursting with attractions, such as Dudley Zoo and Castle, the Victorian wonders of the Black Country Living Museum and a stunning canal network. This area is sure to provide entertaining experiences for local people, including the pupils at Church of the Ascension C of E Primary School.
