Working at The Chase School in Malvern was an absolute pleasure. We installed a large Maxima Tepee, 21000mm x 7000mm that created a wonderful cover for a dining area with capacity for over 100 students. With Steelwork in Grey RAL 7037 and a sharp white fabric roof it looks very smart and professional. Exactly what you’d expect from The Chase School!

Our Maxima Tepee is a fantastic choice when covering outdoor dining areas but can be used to add cover to pretty much any area you require. Whilst The Chase School opted for a large shelter, single units range in size from 3000mm x 3000mm to 15000mm x 15000mm so multiple units (common centre beam and uprights) can be used to cover just about any size of area.
We always recommend you work with us early in the planning stage. With a wide range of designs, fabrics and colour options a consultation can be invaluable in choosing the right solution for you.
There is a lot of research that highlights the benefits of spending time in the fresh air; easing heart rate, blood pressure, stress hormones and muscle tension. It can even improve your mood. Enhancements in attention, memory and concentration have also been shown.
How does this effect children in school? Well, being indoors for much of the day is connected to increased anxiety and depression. Couple this with the allure of computer games and social media at home and you can see how essential it is to offer children as many opportunities to be outdoors during the school day as possible.
Spending time outdoors increases Vitamin D levels (an important hormone that helps to protect against a range of diseases such as osteoporosis, depression, heart attacks and stroke). It is revealed in research that many of us do not get an adequate amount of this important vitamin, so more time outside is central to help tackle this deficiency.
With the longest break in the school day being the lunch break, a good resolution is alfresco dining. More and more schools are adding to their outdoor areas, adding outdoor dining spaces, with canopies, shade sails, umbrellas and even enclosed outdoor dining rooms. With climbing pupil numbers, this is a solution to the increased pressure that existing dining rooms come under as schools grow.
Continue reading our blog post to learn how schools can combat this issue and encourage their students to spend more time outside.
