At A&S Landscape we are able to provide comprehensive start-to-finish services, including the full build and groundworks for our Motiva Covered Muga™ canopies. However, for this project, Frederick Bird Academy already had a multi-use games area and wanted to fit a canopy to enhance its functionality. Our team collaborated closely with the school, leveraging our wide range of suitable products, to design a canopy that not only maximised the space’s usability but also complemented its aesthetics.
We provided our Motiva Covered MUGA™ canopy, which has provided a large space where the pupils can play sports, socialise and relax outside. Due to our high-quality materials and expert design team, we are able to provide this structure without any central support beams, providing an open and safe space for pupils to run around and participate in sports. This design features a Sapphire Blue Duracoat™ that further enhances the durability of all of the steel elements, which has been paired with our popular Opal polycarbonate roof that evenly disperses light within the area, whilst protecting from UV rays.
Frederick Bird Academy is a school based in Coventry, and they are part of the Inspire Education Trust; their CEO, Lois Whitehouse, shares that they, “strive to inspire all learners and that they want all of their schools to be the best they can be and for each child to discover the skills, abilities, talents and interests that lie within them”. The headteacher of Frederick Bird Academy, Michelle Porter, shares that, “it is a privilege to be the Headteacher at Frederick Bird Academy, where the children are enthusiastic and motivated to achieve endless possibilities.”
Sporting activities in schools not only provide physical health benefits, but can also help to improve a child’s mental health. As well as exposing the younger generation to a healthy interest in sports, lessons centred around team sports, can help to teach pupils how to work as a team. As a young adult entering a career for the first time, the ability to work as a team, as well as individually, is one highly coveted by employers. Many team sports require access to an open outdoor space, however, with unpredictable UK weather, pupils are not always able to make the most of their outdoor space. Thankfully our Motiva Covered MUGA™ canopy offers a great solution to provide pupils with a safe outdoor space to play all year round.
