Crystal Palace Football Club adds Spectator Canopy to Training Grounds

What was the project brief?

Crystal Palace FC approached us in the early stages of their academy development, seeking a large canopy to cover a newly built stand. They were eager to see how A&S Landscape could meet their needs, particularly because of our reputation for using premium-grade materials. They worked closely with our consultants to bring their vision to life.

What was our canopy solution?

We designed and installed a  Bespoke Motiva Cantilever™ canopy, featuring a Goosewing Grey Duracoat™ finish on the steelwork and an Opal polycarbonate roof. This sleek and contemporary addition to the grounds offers protection from both harsh UV rays and rain, ensuring coaches and spectators are comfortably accommodated on the training ground.

Our Motiva Cantilever™ design is extremely adaptable, available in both a straight-roof or curved-roof design, the canopy can be used for covered walkways, spectators stands, or as a covered area to store equipment. The design benefits from only having one row of structural posts, which can be positioned to the front, centre, or rear of the canopy – providing a more open and accessible space. The solid steel structure with a polycarbonate roof is extremely robust, and is covered in our Duracoat™ to provide advanced protection from scratches, rust, and corrosion.

About the client

Crystal Palace Football Club, also known as ‘The Eagles’ are a distinguished team within English football; they compete professionally in the FA Cup and the Premier League, and their Under-18’s team compete in the FA Youth Cup. The team are located in the South of London, and hosts home games at their Selhurst Park Stadium (opened in 1924); the club has invested £20 million into their academy in recent years, providing players with a top-of-the-range training ground. The club’s investments have granted the Academy a Category One status, which is no easy feat, and provides accreditation to the academy’s first-class services – this assesses the quality of their coaching, equipment, facilities, and strategic development.
