Highfurlong School were looking to add a covered walkway to connect their raised playground to the first floor of their school. They envisioned using our vibrant coloured polycarbonate roofing to infuse the area with a burst of colour, creating a welcoming and safe space for pupils.
After carefully evaluating the school’s needs and available space, we installed our Motiva Linear™ steel canopy, renowned for its exceptional strength and durability. The steelwork was finished with our Marine Grade Duracoat™ in Sky Blue, offering superior resistance to rust, corrosion, and scratches.
This was complemented by our premium coloured polycarbonate roofing in our vibrant shades of Poppy, Moondust, Lagoon, and Foxglove. Unlike other polycarbonate roofing on the market, our polycarbonate is infused with colour rather than coated with external films or tints, ensuring it remains vibrant and won’t peel over time. The coloured polycarbonate also filters light beautifully, casting stunning, colourful shadows on the pathway below, which is a great way to brighten up playgrounds and walkways!

What is a polycarbonate canopy?
Polycarbonate is a high-performing plastic material that is our most popular choice for canopies all across the UK, polycarbonate is a low-maintenance, safe, and robust option that schools love!
Key Benefits of a polycarbonate canopy:
Durable: Polycarbonate can withstand and protect from extreme weather conditions, such as harsh wind, sun, and rain.
UV Protection: Our polycarbonate canopies protect pupils against UV rays, and this makes them a great option for outdoor learning and dining – as students can enjoy the benefits of sunlight without the risk of sunburn.
Adaptable: Our polycarbonate canopies can be easily configured to fit any bespoke dimensions or designs, so we can cater to your exact design preferences. We also have a wide colour range available, so you can incorporate your company colours or mix and match colours to create a funky and vibrant design.
Cost-effective: Polycarbonate canopies are often the top choice for cost efficiency when compared to glass and fabric roofing solutions—especially for large-span designs. While fabric may initially seem more affordable, it does not hold the same level of durability as polycarbonate when covering expansive areas like dining canopies or sports pitches, and may require more frequent maintenance. Meanwhile, polycarbonate is a more cost-effective than glass, offering an ideal balance of affordability and resilience for large-scale applications.
We have a wide range of polycarbonate canopies available, for a myriad of uses including entrance canopies, covered dining, teaching, or sports areas, and playground canopies. Find out more here.
