Greenford High School add an Impressive Enclosed Dining Canopy

What was the project brief?

Greenford High School in Middlesex wanted a large dining shelter to reduce pressure on other facilities during break times. They were looking for an impressive structure, that was enclosed so that it could stay warm and comfortably be used in all weathers. In order to ensure the space was turn-key ready, the school were looking for a company that provided a full-package service, including heating, lighting, flooring, and benches – and so they got in touch with our consultants to do just that!

What was our canopy solution?

Following talks about what they wanted from the shelter and the options they could consider, Greenford High School opted for our Motiva Vista™ solution. The canopy has been styled with a Squirrel Grey Duracoat™ and Opal polycarbonate roof, creating a sleek and contemporary look, and has been equipped with our low-maintenance epoxy flooring, and 22 of our robust Hercules Benches™ – in a matching Squirrel Grey Duracoat™ – providing seating for over 170 pupils. This new installation has been a highly appreciated addition to the school, effectively alleviating overcrowding during break and lunch times.

About the client

Greenford High School are a non-selective secondary school in Middlesex, the school have top of the range facilities, and an innovative and flexible curriculum. Headteacher, Mrs Pye, shares, “Greenford is a unique place to grow, develop and succeed, for staff and students alike.”. The Unique Benefits of Open and Enclosed Canopies

Open-Sided Canopies

Open-sided canopies provide shelter from harsh weather – be it UV rays or downfalls. Their open design promotes enhanced airflow and ventilation, which has proven benefits for pupil’s minds and health. Furthermore, the lack of barriers broadens the usability of the space; our school clients have used these canopies for various purposes, such as sports activities, staging events, and electrical equipment at events – so that the show can go on in any weather! Some examples of open canopies that can be designed for dining include our Motiva Duo™, Motiva Mono™, and Motiva Linear™.

Enclosed Canopies

Canopies with sides provide enhanced shelter from side winds and rain, creating a more comfortable and inviting space, particularly in colder months.  These designs help retain heat and can be equipped with lockable doors for added security. This makes them an ideal choice for schools using the space for kitchen or catering equipment and benches and tables that aren’t fixed into the ground. Finally, the glass sides provide an excellent opportunity to feature school branding or mottos through vinyl decals, which we are able to provide, adding a personalised touch. Some examples of our enclosed dining canopies include our Motiva Expanse, and our Motiva Vista, but speak to our consultants to add sides to any of our canopies!
