New School Canopy at Lower Heath CE Primary School in Whitchurch

Lower Heath CE Primary School and Nursery in Shropshire had a lovely playground and the need for more covered space for their children. When they approached A&S Landscape to offer some ideas for canopies we knew that we could help.

With more than 40 years’ experience in adding school shelters to schools across the UK, A&S Landscape’s wide range of canopy solutions was sure to have the right product for the area. The space was large and allowed a structure which measured 9200mm x 6000mm to be installed. The Motiva Linear range was chosen for Lower Heath CE Primary School. With steel posts and polycarbonate roofing, the canopy will last for many years to come, providing shade and shelter for many children as they move through this lovely school.

The roofing is a nice bright addition in Daffodil polycarbonate. Even on a dull day, this lovely bright choice adds a feeling of ‘Springtime’ to the area. Almost like a classroom extension but without being a permanent structure which would require planning permission. A great result, thank you for choosing A&S Landscape.

How regular exercise and outdoor play helps to keep children healthy and how we can facilitate this at home and in school

Health is negatively affected by not getting sufficient exercise, resulting in increasing rates of obesity in children and adolescents. Children are not playing outside as much as they have done in the past, curbing their exposure to sunlight and thus the formation of Vitamin D which helps to battle infection and keeps skin healthy. Sunlight also helps to regulate the production of melatonin which regulates sleep. Phones and tablets emit damaging blue light, which can cause headaches and eye strain. Blue light in the evenings can even restrain the formation of melatonin, which in turn can make going to sleep very difficult for some children.

So what is the answer to this slippery slope that we find ourselves on… More time outside!

We constructed a curved roof canopy for Newtown C Of E Primary School Newtown, Wem, Shropshire. The job involved one Motiva™ Mono curved roof canopy measuring 6000mm X 4800mm and included for our Alu-Tuff™ aluminium box profile guttering and downpipes which were coated in a matching Dura-coat™ colour finish and four post pads.

Our team constructed a playground umbrella in Ludlow Junior School Clee View, Ludlow, Shropshire. The job involved the supply and fitting of one Maxima™ waterproof Umbrella structure supported on a single upright measuring 5000mm X 5000mm.

We built a waterproof sail at William Reynolds Junior School Westbourne, Telford, Shropshire. The contract included removal of the existing sail from umbrella and the installation of a new sail with fixtures and fittings.

Our engineers designed a straight polycarbonate roof canopy in Captain Webb Primary School Dawley, Telford, Shropshire. The job involved the supply and installation of one Motiva™ monopitch straight roof canopy measuring 18500mm X 3000mm with Alu-Tuff™ aluminium box profile guttering and downpipes in matching Dura-coat™ colour finish. Supply and installation of 57 sqm of dark blue rubber surfacing underneath the canopy and installation of kerb lines.

John Fletcher Primary School Add Curved Roof Play Area Canopy

Working with our building contractor client our engineers made a mono canopy for John Fletcher Primary School Madeley, Telford, Shropshire. The full contract involved one Motiva™ Mono monopitch curved roof canopy measuring 10450mm X 2600mm with Alu-Tuff™ aluminium box profile guttering and downpipes which were coated in a matching Dura-coat™ colour finish.
