Old Church C of E Primary School wanted to create a sheltered space for their pupils to play outside throughout the year. The Headteacher spotted one of our multicoloured canopies in our brochure and knew it was the perfect design.
Gentian Blue - RAL NO. 5010
Mint
Violet
Daffodil
Foxglove
Mandarin
Poppy
Lagoon Blue
A&S Landscape was thrilled to install a multicoloured polycarbonate canopy at the school. With mint, violet, daffodil, foxglove, mandarin, poppy and lagoon roofing colours, the finished product is simply joyful. When the sun does decide to shine, it will stream through the coloured roof and create a beautiful effect on the floor. The mid blue steelwork also works well with the brightly coloured roof on this Motiva Linear design.
Now the pupils of Old Church C of E Primary School can play outside in the fresh air all-year-round. This will have many benefits on the school, as the pupils can let off steam and arrive at their next lessons refreshed. Parents can also wait under the shelter at the end of the school day, protected from the elements. We’re so glad that this school recognised the importance of outdoor play and decided to add a canopy to their site. We also worked other schools in Walsall, including the curved roof canopy we added to Yew Tree Primary School.
Fitness is adversely impacted by not getting sufficient exercise, creating increasing numbers of obesity in children and adolescents. Children are not playing outside as much as they did previously, restricting their exposure to sunlight and thus the production of Vitamin D which helps to fight infection and keeps skin healthy. Sunlight also helps to regulate the production of melatonin which regulates sleep. Smartphones emit harmful blue light, which can cause headaches and eye strain. Blue light in the evenings can even restrain the creation of melatonin, which in turn can make falling asleep very difficult for some children.
So what is the answer to this slippery slope that we find ourselves on… More time outside!
