Outdoor Shelter at Edna G Olds Nottingham

Edna G Olds Academy is an inner-city school situated within the vibrant community of Lenton, Nottingham. There are currently 227 pupils on roll who truly reflect the diverse cultural heritage of the wonderful local community.

The academy has excellent facilities, which includes a modern purpose-built Early Years Foundation Stage unit, wonderful outdoor learning play equipment, and an ongoing commitment towards the provision for new and emerging technologies.

When the Academy came to sourcing four canopies for various areas of the school through an architect’s practice, we were delighted to be able to assist with Motiva Linear canopies complete with side panels and roofing coloured to match the school logo! With a range of colours for the roofing, we found that a smart Blue steelwork (RAL5002) with roofing in Amber, Lagoon and Poppy made the Motiva Linear feel like part of the schools DNA. We also installed a colourful roof canopy at St Edburgs C of E School.

The benefits and importance on outdoor play on children

Health is detrimentally impacted by not getting ample exercise, leading to increasing numbers of obesity in children and adolescents. Children are not playing outside as much as they have done before, limiting their exposure to sunlight and thus the creation of Vitamin D which helps to fight infection and keeps skin healthy. Sunlight also helps to regulate the formation of melatonin which regulates sleep. Phones and tablets emit harmful blue light, which can cause headaches and eye strain. Blue light in the evenings can even restrain the production of melatonin, which in turn can make going to sleep very tough for some children.

So what is the answer to this slippery slope that we find ourselves on… More time outside!

Nottingham Girls’ High School Install Blue Sail Shade to Pre-School Area

We erected a waterproof sail structure at Nottingham Girls’ High School, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire. The contract included one 5000mm x 5000mm Maxima™ tensile waterproof fabric sail structure comprising of one square sail on four uprights including for all stainless steel fixtures and fittings and four post protector pads.

The Trinity Catholic Voluntary Academy Add Play Area Canopy

Working for our building contractor client our team built a straight polycarbonate roof canopy for The Trinity Catholic Voluntary Academy, Aspley, Nottingham, Nottinghamshire. The contract included one Motiva™ Cantilever straight roof canopy measuring 2400mm X 1800mm.

Willow Brook Primary School Install Umbrella in Playground

Working with a commercial partner we constructed a playground umbrella in Willow Brook Primary School, Keyworth, Nottinghamshire. The contract included the supply and fitting of one Maxima™ waterproof Umbrella structure supported on a single upright measuring 8000mm X 8000mm.

Whitegate Primary And Nursery School Install Polycarbonate Canopy

Our engineers constructed a straight polycarbonate roof canopy for Whitegate Primary And Nursery School, Middlefell Way, Clifton, Nottingham. The job involved the supply and installation of one Motiva™ monopitch straight roof canopy measuring 11750mm X 6000mm and included for our Alu-Tuff™ aluminium box profile guttering and downpipes which were coated in a matching Dura-coat™ colour finish and post protection pads.

Ashby School Install Secure Cycle Shelter

Our team constructed a cycle store in Ashby School, Nottingham Road, Ashby De La Zouch, Leicestershire. The contract included one Cyclo ‘City’ cycle store unit measuring 12320mm x 2000mm allowing for 15 cycle racks to accommodate 30 cycles.
