When we work with schools we aren’t just looking at solving a problem, we want to solve it with a structure that looks great too.

Which is exactly what we considered when installing this outdoor playground shelter in Northwich, Cheshire. Davenham C of E Primary School, like lots of schools, had a great outdoor space that was incredibly useful to their students just so long as the weather was feeling generous.
But the weather doesn’t always feel so generous and adding a shelter allowed Davenham to extend their learning environment outside, allowing a year-round area that was not limited by the weather.
We added a Motiva Mono, 7000mm x 4000mm in a great looking Green (RAL6005) steelwork with clear roofing that kept the rain and sun at bay but meant the students could still get all the benefits of being outside!
“The canopy has provided shade and shelter from the elements for our outdoor provision which has been beneficial to all areas of learning and is an aesthetically pleasing structure with many advantages.”

A common but under-researched topic of social and emotional development in children is understanding the benefits of spending time outdoors and how considerable the effects are. For such a integral part of childhood, the gaps in research here are somewhat extraordinary. Not least because, the research that currently exists shows that there is conclusive evidence that outdoor time, like outdoor play, or outdoor classrooms, has a major positive impact on a child’s social and emotional development. These initial studies come from multiple disciplines using a broad range of approaches that all lead to the same stance.
