St Nicholas Church of England Primary School in Somerset Add Multiple Canopies

A&S Landscape installed two straight roof canopies at the school. One Motiva Linear was located outside of the reception classrooms to create a covered play area. The second shelter was built in-between two buildings to create a covered walkway. Both canopies feature multicoloured polycarbonate roofing, with the colours moondust, lagoon and mint. To contrast against the colourful roof, the steelwork was finished in a subtle window grey. We also installed another colourful shelter at St Bede’s RC Primary School.

Why playing outdoors frequently effects the emotional and social development of children

A common but under-researched matter of social and emotional development in children is appreciating the influence of spending time outdoors and how considerable the effects are. For such a significant element of childhood, the gaps in research here are somewhat astounding. Not least because, the research that currently exists establishes that there is conclusive evidence that outdoor time, like outdoor play, or outdoor classrooms, has a notable positive impact on a child’s social and emotional development. These emerging studies come from several disciplines using a wide range of methods that all lead to the same idea.

Specifically, papers centring on; risk-taking, sensory skills, confidence, and anxiety stress how outdoor play favourably influences children’s social and emotional development.

Already everyone at St Nicholas Church of England Primary loves the new shelters. Break times can now be spent outside in the fresh air, even when the weather is poor. This helps the pupils to properly refresh and unwind before their next lessons.

The covered walkway also protects the staff and children from the elements while they are moving around the school. Parents could also use the two shelters at the end of the school day while they are waiting for their children.

Farmborough C Of E VC Primary School Add Two Polycarbonate Canopies

Working with the contractor our team created two straight polycarbonate roof canopies in Farmborough C Of E VC Primary School, Farmborough, Bath, Somerset. The full contract involved the supply and installation of one Motiva™ monopitch straight roof canopy measuring 8150mm X 2500/3400mm and 4500mm X 1900mm. One Motiva™ monopitch straight roof canopy measuring 3300mm X 2500mm, both included for our Alu-Tuff™ aluminium box profile guttering and downpipes which were coated in a matching Dura-coat™ colour finish.

In combination with this prestigious client A&S made a playground umbrella in Ashcott Playing Fields, Ashcott, Somerset. The job involved one Maxima™ waterproof Umbrella structure supported on a single upright measuring 4000mm X 4000mm.
