Tor Bridge High in Devon Finds Ideal Dining Canopy

What was the project brief?

Tor Bridge High in Plymouth wanted a dining shelter that could encourage its students to spend more time outdoors during the school day and get the mental, emotional and calming benefits of being in the fresh air. The team liked the idea of a simple but stylish, contemporary design that would act as a focal point in their grounds and support their motto of ‘Stronger together, creating better futures’. Quality was also very important to the institution, so they looked for a company that had a reputation for excellence. From the early stages of the process with us, they knew we were the right company to deliver the highest standard of product.

What was our canopy solution?

We carefully considered how to move forward with this project and keep our quality service at its core, and our client asked us to install a Motiva Duo™ once they had taken on our expert advice. This was a fantastic choice of product for a dining canopy because its genuine polycarbonate roofing can stand up against the wind and rain, while lending itself to large sizes that accommodate plenty of lunchtime seating. In fact, we supplied this structure with measurements of 24m X 10m, so the institution didn’t have to worry about running out of space for its students when they were eating or catching up with friends during breaks outdoors. An Opal roof and Slate Grey steelwork looked straightforward and classy, as well as clearly embodying the high quality the staff wanted to find and convey to their community.

What was the result of the dining shelter?

Our dining canopy has become a wonderful asset to this customer in Devon. Students have more options for where to spend their break times and can get a mental and physical health boost from being able to eat outside in all weathers, which may even have a positive impact on their academic performance. What’s more, the shelter can be used in other ways too, such as for outdoor learning. The attractive, unobtrusive design combined with its impressive size makes it a great selling point to new potential learners and shows the school’s desire for top standards throughout its teaching environment.
