What was the project brief?

The University of Roehampton in London wanted to source an entrance canopy for the postal room area on its Digby Stuart College campus. This was so deliveries could be kept safe and dry in bad weather. The staff there thought that the right product would be designed specifically to suit their entrance and come with side panels to provide the best possible coverage, as well as colours that had a classic feel. They got in touch with us and we endeavoured to meet their exact requirements.

What was our entrance shelter solution?

We talked through our product range and its customisation options with the University of Roehampton, and they chose to add a Motiva Linear™ to their grounds. This model has a monopitch roof and is constructed with high-quality materials to ensure that it offers incredible shelter for years to come. Made to measure 5380mm X 3108mm and sporting side panels, the entrance canopy worked perfectly at the postal room entrance and could easily protect deliveries in rain and wind. It also made the way in more noticeable, which is handy for any new visitors arriving at the building. What’s more, the Jet Black steelwork and Opal roof made for a straightforward, smart design that matched the existing architecture.

What was the result of the canopy?

The entrance shelter has been an incredibly useful addition to facilities at the University of Roehampton’s Digby Stuart College campus. Damp parcels have become a thing of the past as the modern, straight roof canopy keeps them dry in all weathers, and the staff were impressed by the effectiveness of the additional side panels. The unobtrusive design perfectly suits the site and the product is utilised all year round. We were delighted that this client loved their new canopy structure and we would be more than happy to provide them with further models in the future.

What sorts of canopies can make universities more attractive to prospective students?

Universities compete to attract attendees and something that can sway someone’s decision is the look of a campus and its facilities. Installing shelters can influence this, and here’s how different types can get the job done.

1.Shade sails

These diverse canopies are fantastic for sheltering students outdoors when they’re meeting up with friends or chatting with classmates. The often colourful design of a waterproof sail shade is also sure to brighten up any outside space.

2.Dining shelters

Universities need extensive dining facilities and adding them outdoors can be appealing to students who want to enjoy meals in the fresh air after lectures and exams. Dining canopies ensure that they can do this all year round.

3.Covered Multi Use Games Areas

Many people look for universities with top-quality sports facilities where they can continue training or try something new. Covered MUGA™ are impressive structures that can cater to a variety of activities and sports. They really make an impression on visitors and can be used in all weathers.

It’s clear that installing one of our products is an excellent way to make your campus more attractive to potential students, and canopies can help universities to stand out from their competition. Want to know more about how we can make this a reality? Give us a call on 01743 444100 today.
