Zaytouna Primary School were lacking an outdoor area where their pupils could use all-year-round. A&S Landscape designed and installed two canopies which have transformed the campus.
A Covered MUGA™ was added to the school site, which has provided a large space where the pupils can play sports, socialise and relax outside. A Motiva Linear™ canopy was also installed, which covers a section of the playground. Now the school has a choice of covered areas to enjoy, even when the weather conditions are poor. Before the new canopies were installed, Zaytouna Primary School, in Derbyshire, had to use a shelter tent which wasn’t fit for purpose.
The linear canopy features a multicoloured polycarbonate roof, which adds a pop of colour to the school campus. The Covered MUGA™ features Opal roofing, which provides protection against UV rays while letting some sunlight through. Both of the canopies can be used by the school all-year-round, in any weather conditions.
Break and lunchtimes can now be enjoyed outside throughout the school year, leaving the pupils refreshed ready for their next lesson. Teachers can also utilise the new canopies by holding classes outside in an alternative learning environment. And when it rains, parents can shelter under the canopy while they wait for their children.
“Good job, we’re incredibly happy with the work.”
– Zaytouna Primary School
The importance of PE can stretch to affecting the behaviour and character of a young pupil. A classroom setting can use discipline to prepare a person for a professional environment, but PE can prove beneficial in another way. As well as attracting the younger generation to a have a eager interest in sports, many lessons are centred on team sports, and can help to illustrate how to work with others. As a young person starting a career for the first time, the wiliness to work as a team, as well as separately, is one highly desired by companies. To start this at a young age would not only increase their chance of continuing a team sport as an adult, but could go as far as increasing their potential employability.
