St Mary’s Bluecoat School – Shade Sails

Shade sails we fitted at St Marys Bluecoat SchoolSo we installed a Maxima Sail, 18000mm x 6000mm (3 separate sails) with steelwork in white, post pads and shade sail in aquatic blue. The whole structure looks very sharp and adds another dimension to a lovely playing field.

The Maxima Sail can be used for almost any area and is particularly effective in performance areas, outdoor classrooms, play areas and plazas. We also added a sail shade to the playground of Fulwood St Peter’s Primary School. They’re an economical solution that can be put together in an almost unlimited range of sizes, although you need to think about realistic sizing if you are going to leave them up all year round.

With either Shade Cloth or PVC you have a wide variety of colour options (see here for the full range) and by contacting us early we can work with you to get exactly the design that makes the biggest difference to your space.

Why we should encourage children to play outdoors and how we can do so

Health is negatively impacted by not getting enough exercise, resulting in increasing numbers of obesity in children and adolescents. Children are not playing outside as much as they have done before, curbing their exposure to sunlight and thus the formation of Vitamin D which helps to fight infection and keeps skin healthy. Sunlight also helps to control the production of melatonin which regulates sleep. Phones and tablets emit harmful blue light, which can cause headaches and eye strain. Blue light in the evenings can even limit the formation of melatonin, which in turn can make going to sleep very tough for some children.
