Six Matching Shade Sails at Edinburgh Napier University in Edinburgh

Edinburgh Napier University needed six shade sails to allow staff and students to spend more time outside year-round and boost the look of its facilities. They needed to have modern, simple, durable designs that complemented the site’s architecture.

What did the project involve?

A&S Landscape installed six 5000mm X 5000mm Maxima StarSail™ canopies at Edinburgh Napier University. The team at the institution – which develops students through personalised learning and links to industry – chose Concrete roofs and Squirrel Grey steelwork for a subtle, clean look that looked fantastic on-campus. Staff and students love the modern, robust design of the shade sails and now use the canopies to get outdoor shelter from many types of weather during daily life at the university.
